Today we’d like to introduce you to Kollette Decker, Dan Decker, Joe Turba, Aaron Becker, Jonny Branch and Chad Cartwright.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kollette, Dan, Joe, Aaron, Jonny and Chad. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Yes, so Dan and Kollette had a vision for a long time to start a band. This band started by Dan handpicking each member from the worship team at church and then we found Jonny from a band app that finds musicians. We started in 2016 and have had a great time gigging locally and surrounding areas. It’s been a blast! It has been hard work and building relationships to get where we are and we have more work to do but we are at a place where we are turning down gigs because we have built a name for ourselves over the last three years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it has been a pretty smooth ride. When you have six personalities it can get tricky to navigate personalities and schedules, but we all genuinely like each other and are friends and just like any family or sibling, etc there are going to be some trials but we handle them really well and it always works out. Not always the way everyone wants but we are understanding about it. Usually, it involves availability or song choices. We are a team though and we respect each other and family obligations always come first! Everyone has a voice to speak their opinion and we all respect that. We have a lot of fun together and have a genuine and authentic friendship!!
We’d love to hear more about your band.
We are a modern country rock band with a blues influence. We are a vocally driven band that sets us apart but held together by stellar musicians. We have a fun and edgy sound and are known for our enthusiastic and engaging performances as well as our wide variety of music, as we like to throw in out of genre songs and originals etc to mix it up. We are a very versatile band with high quality musicianship.
Do you feel like our city is a good place for businesses like yours? If someone was just starting out, would you recommend them starting out here? If not, what can our city do to improve?
It’s improving. If we could change anything it would be for businesses to have country nights on the weekends and not just Thurs nights. That is a definite bummer and could improve. Overall Denver metro is. Great area to play music as we are close to other surrounding areas that provide an opportunity as well. People are awesome and the market isn’t saturated so we feel its good. For our specific strengths and market, there is always room for more opportunity though!
